- Wagga’s Mayor, Kevin Wales, Bruce Tutty and Bill Ryan were among those present when United Protestant Association Patron, John Rhodes officially opened the units at Gumly Chauncy Lodge.

- At a special ceremony, Wagga City Council honoured 54 people and businesses who have contributed so far to the Equex development.

- Wagga Police Crime Manager, Grahame Winson, congratulated Eric Barrow on 1500 hours of service over five years with the Volunteer in Policing organisation.

- In a first for Wagga, golfer Jim Speirs was awarded an Australian Sports Medal for services to Golf in New South Wales.

- Eddie Thomas is pictured sorting through a table of goods on offer at the Wagga Swap Meet.

- Mayor, Kevin Wales, NSW Mason’s representative, Rick Priest, regional grand chancellor, Garry Bazzacco, Radiotherapy appeal trust chairman, Joe Schipp, and Committee members, Peter Fitzpatrick, Louise Jacobson, Jan Newman and Babs Donaldson were among those present when NSW Masons made a $5000 donation to the radiotherapy appeal.

- Sid Palazzi and Bruce Lampe paid tribute to their great uncle, Joseph Palazzi at the Palazzi Memorial in Collins Park on the 100th anniversary of his death in the Boer War.

- After years of dedicated service, three members of Wagga’s Golden Gown Committee, Jan French, June Dunn and Jean Bartholomew, have retired and were paid tribute at a cocktail party held at the Manor restaurant.

- Member for Riverina Kay Hull opened a new Family Assistance Office located at the Medicare-Centrelink-ATO inquiry branch at 70 Baylis Street.

- South Wagga Public School students Gerard Lagana, Emma Ballantyne and Nicole Irons are pictured training for the New South Wales PSSA cross-country championships in Sydney this week.

- Dr Peter Keith explained the Australian Medical Association’s warning about self-diagnosing using the internet.
- Chairman of the Riverina Cancer Care community trust board, Joe Schipp, said that construction of the centre in the grounds of Calvary Hospital should begin later this year and be operational by early 2002.
- A former area manager of a Wagga-based finance company was sentenced to 12 months’ jail for defrauding his employer of more than half a million dollars.
- Wagga City Council is considering a ban on the collection of firewood from roadside reserves as part of a drive towards the preservation of native vegetation and the wildlife it supports.
- Farmers have expressed concerns about plans by Tumba Rail to use the railway line between Ladysmith and Forest Hill.

- For the second successive year the brother and sister combination of David Byfield and Judy Beck won the Riverina District Golf Association Mixed Foursomes Championship. They are pictured leaving the course with Mick Graham and Pat McGregor.

- Members of the Wagga Theatre Club including Gerald Flynn, Lin Harding, Kath Hamilton and Paschle Whitworth are touring pre-school kindergartens with their “Story of Little Red Riding Hood”.

- A 57-year-old Wagga man was killed when two cars collided at the intersection of Kincaid and Trail Streets.

- Red Cross long service badges were presented to Mr Tom Dodd, Miss Carrie Bond and Mrs Bonnie Hodson.


- Gil Mathew is pictured promoting his steel fabrication workshop in Dobney Avenue and his agency for “Cub” trailers and horse floats.

- Wagga Technical College student, Mandy Smith a Turvey Park supporter is this years Miss Rugby League heat winner.

- Michael Stormonth, Michael Schmid, Leigh Grace, Stephen Wilson and Ian Begg have been selected to represent NSW in the under-12 Soccer championships to be played in Sydney.

- Helen Irons, Denise Foley, Ray Brown, Jeanette Gandy, Grant Taylor, Robin Manning and Sue Guttler are among those attending the Rural Youth State Conference being held at the Wagga Agricultural College.

- Bob Martin and Brian Dietsch from Central Wagga Apex are pictured presenting a cheque for $180 to the Wagga Day Care Centre who were represented by Mrs Anne Willsallen, Mrs Jeannette Sherwood and Mrs Henry Clark.
- After flying to Sydney to meet the Minister for Mines and Energy, Mr George Freudenststein to thrash out the natural gas deferment issue, Mayor, Ald Dick Gorman and Gasworks Engineer, Charles Krummel said that no satisfactory conclusion had been reached.
- An urgent meeting of all councils, including Wagga, affected by the deferment of natural gas will be held in Sydney on July 31st.
- Wagga City Council has calculated that the average block of land in Wagga is valued at $6250 an increase of $869 in the past 12 months.
- Bede Delaney is the first Wagga Trainer in 24 years to win the S.D.R.A. premiership.
- Mr K McCallum, Chairman of the Wagga Postal Employees Credit Union said that although progress had been achieved, 1974-75 was not a year of spectacular growth.
- Model boats capable of 90 kilometres per hour will be racing this week at the Wagga Model Boat Club’s “Boat Day” to be held at the Bomen Lagoon on the Oura Road.
