  • Former Wagga theatre identity, Colin Anderson was awarded an honorary Doctor of Arts degree at the Charles Sturt Faculty of Arts Graduation ceremony.
  • More than 1000 former Charles Sturt University students will gather in Wagga this week to celebrate the culmination of their studies at the 2000 Graduation Ceremonies.
  • Judy and Chris Vardon, Anne Brassil, Julie Hoy, Alison Newman, John Harding and Barbara and Peter Dale were pictured attending the NSW Cultural Summit cocktail party at the Civic Theatre.

  • Wagga Police Local Area Commander, Superintendent Steve Bradshaw, welcomed statistics showing that the Murrumbidgee and Murray regions have the lowest level of crime in New South Wales.
  • Wagga City Council rangers will shortly begin door knocking in all areas of Wagga and surrounding villages to crack down on unregistered dogs.

  • Wagga City Council is applying for financial assistance of $186,000 to develop Bolton Park into a top sporting complex. Mayor Ald Gorman said that Council will consult the Wagga Tennis Association about the immediate development of Bolton Park tennis Courts.
  • Wagga branch manager of Lamson Paragon, Mr Brian Duignan announced that forty staff comprising almost one third of the plants staff would be retrenched “almost immediately”.
  • District Commissioner, Peter Hains, said that membership of Scouting in Wagga has increased by 11 per cent bringing the uniformed number to more than 450.
  • Wagga City Council was split down the centre on the issue of opening committee meetings to the public but eventually threw out the move.
  • Wagga’s Lutheran Church minister, Pastor Ray Schmidt has been transferred to Dimboola in Victoria.
  • Pop singer Brian Cadd, and his new band, “King Billy” will perform at the Civic Theatre this week.
  • Wagga’s starling shoot next year will be held in April, about a month earlier than this year’s abortive attempt to rid the city of the flying hordes.
