- Murrumbidgee Dairy Products won a gold and eight silver medals at the recent Dairy Industry Association of Australia competition.

- Chris Cabot from Forest Hill is pictured taking his Clydesdales Sonny and Dallas, through their paces at the Wagga Equex Centre as part of the Spring Valley National Heritage Ride.

- The Kapooka section Wagga City Council’s bikeway network, starting at the corner of Tobruk and Fernleigh Roads was opened by Mayor, Kevin Wales.

- Wagga police officer, Senior Constable Fred Loneragan is pictured with his wife Rae during his retirement celebrations at the Wagga Leagues Club.

- Wagga athlete, Brooke Martin will compete in the New South Wales Combined High Schools cross-country team.

- General manager of Wagga Base Hospital, Graeme Sloane is pictured with hand-knitted trauma teddy bears made by members of Wagga Quota Club and donated to the Wagga Ambulance Service and Wagga Base Hospital.

- Jack and Peg Rodham celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.

- Wendy Coupe, Denise Jones, Dr Pat Renshaw, Lisa Harvey, Raylee Morgan, Stacey Andrea and Chris McColl from the Peter Street Medical Clinic are pictured participating in “Jeans for Genes” day.

- Wagga City Council released the names, Mary, Muuj, Donna and Victor given to each of the four bronze figures in Baylis Street created by Wanterbadgery based sculptor, Mary Stinson.

- Member for Riverina, Kay Hull opened an Older Women’s Network Forum organised by the local branch of the Older Women’s Network in conjunction with the Women’s Health Centre.

- Member of the Legislative Council, Don Harwin, addressed the annual general meeting of the Wagga Women’s Liberal Party branch.

- Edwina Whitworth, Honor Kells, Audrey Read and Helen de Platter were among CWA ladies pictured enjoying a cup of tea in honour of the Queen Mother’s 100th birthday.
- Wagga’s specialist training centre for medical students may see up to 120 locally trained doctors in the next three years according to director of the Greater Murray Clinical School, Professor Mohamed Khadra.

- Mates’ Wagga store is one of several Burns Philp stores subject of negotiations with an unknown prospective buyer.

- Father Norman Frederick Duck who was instrumental in founding the San Isadore Cooperative Settlement died of a heart attack at the age of 62.

- Sister Ignatius the sister superior and former administrator of Calvary Hospital has been farewelled before leaving Wagga next week to take up a new post in Tasmania.

- Barry Dixon has taken over from retiring president David Sullivan at the club’s annual changeover dinner.

- President, John Caspers and Secretary Joe Schipp advise that local member, Wal Fife will be the guest speaker at the next monthly meeting of the Liberal Party Wagga Wagga branch.

- Julie Higgins is pictured with the Champion Swallow of the 4th annual show of the Riverina Pigeon Society held at the Wagga Showground.

- Chief executive officer of Wagga Base Hospital, Mr H J Rex received a cheque for $250 from John Spinks of Wagga Apex Club which was part of the proceeds of the recent Apex Novice Golf Tournament.

- Des French, Bruce Pinney and Con Crow are pictured with trophies to be presented at the Wagga Sub-Junior Rugby League grand finals to be held this weekend at the Eric Weissel Oval.
- Wagga’s Casual Day Care Centre will begin operating soon at the Salvation Army Citadel from 9am to 4 pm and will be staffed by volunteer mothers and a trained mothercraft nurse.
- Wagga Chamber of Commerce president, Graham Irons accused the Mayor, Ald Dick Gorman of “grandstanding” on the gas issue, saying that as Wagga is the major country user of gas it is logical it should be the first centre to be supplied with natural gas.
- The Riverina College of Advanced Education has suggested five names, McKay, Hudson, Saliga, Pugsley and Farrer for Wagga City Council to consider as the name of a new suburb to be built north of the river.
- More than 60 members attended the model aero club’s interstate tournament at “Connorton” in Uranquinty which was won by Victoria.
- The renowned Wagga Country Club combination of Jim Stenmark and Morris Hetherington won the Wagga City Golf Club 36 holes foursomes’ championship.
- Wagga High School retained the Carroll Cup when they defeated Mount Austin High School at Gissing Oval.
- Adult admission to the Wagga swimming baths will increase from 20 cents to 30 cents when they open for the new season on 4th October.
