- Wagga City Council announced that Graeme Faulkiner was been appointed as the cities new general manager and will take over after the long serving Brian Andrews retires on November 10.

- Wagga’s Pizza Haven store expects to sell its one millionth pizza by the end of this month, the first of the chain’s 250 stores to achieve the feat.

- Richard Blake, president of the Wagga Amateur Picnic Race Club is pictured with sponsor Col Mercer from the Riverina Co-operative holding the cup which will be presented to winning connections at the big race to be held next week.

- Lola Cummins, Mayor of Junee has been re-elected unopposed with Norm Bray elected unopposed to the position of deputy mayor.

- Tumba Rail members including Max Burke, John Lennon, Matt Savage, Arthur Priest, Dick Goodman, and Tourism Wagga chairman, Michael Maher are pictured putting finishing touches to their trike before their official launch at Ladysmith on Saturday.

- Outgoing secretary manager, Roz Crouch, said that a decision to change the South Wagga Sports and Bowling Clubs direction has been rewarded with an explosion in membership from 400 to 2000 in the past two years.

- Volunteers from the Wagga Harley Owners Group including Greg Smith, Terry Blackford, Geoff Pym, Harry Watt, Same Withers, Garry Myers, Tim Mutton, Bill Farlow and Ken O’Sullivan are playing a leading role at the Sydney Olympics where they are transporting film to the Kodak Processing Centre.

- Two new radio stations are hoping to open in Wagga soon, Life FM, a youth orientated station and another, the Riverina Radio Group which is attempting to establish a second commercial FM station in the city.

- Cyril and Hazel Cunnington celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary at the Wagga Leagues Club.

- Paralympian pentathlete Lee Cox is pictured with museum manager, Thomas Graham at a National Olympic Heros exhibition at the Museum of the Riverina.

- The annual Gathering of the Faithfull was held at Bolton Park with 52 MGs on display.

- Nationwide McGilvray was named Top Sales Office New South Wales Country at the recent Nationwide Realty New South Wales Annual Awards ceremony.
- Lockhart Mayor, Councillor, Colin Weise has been re-elected for a second consecutive term with Councillor Bruce Day elected as deputy mayor.
- Wagga based transport company, Finemore Holdings Ltd has been awarded a major part of the New South Wales carrier business of Woolworths Supermarkets.
50 Years Ago

- Wagga won the Farrer League Viscount Cup premiership at Yerong Creek, the first time since 1962.

- Ald Dick Gorman was re-elected to a third term as Mayor in a controversial tied ballot with Ald Brian Allen.

- Despite inclement weather, more than 1000 trees were planted at Cartwright’s Hill to mark International Women’s Year in a unique fashion.

- Turvey Tavern employees Mrs Judy Hoffman and Mrs Jane Millane have been busy decorating the tavern in anticipation of both Turvey Park Australian Rules and Turvey Park Rugby League teams winning premierships next weekend.


- Well known Humula primary producer, Mr Michael Millard and president of the Wagga branch of the Graziers Association of NSW, Mr Mark Morton have been nominated for Country Party endorsement at the election.

- Well known Tarcutta district farmer and grazier, Mr Robert MacNeil Osborne, Mrs Rae Parker, Mr Joe Schipp and Wagga alderman, Bruce Hedditch all announced that they would be seeking Liberal Party endorsement for the seat of Wagga at the next State Election.

- Ald Peter O’Halloran and his wife, Margaret, Ald Bruce Hedditch and his wife, Halina, Ald Norm McLennan and his wife Yvonne, Mrs Jane Sibree and her husband, Mr Jim Sibree, Wagga City Council Industrial Promotion s Officer were among many guests attending the annual Mayoral party at the Wagga Leagues Club.

- The new bistro at the Wagga RSL Club, capable of accommodating 250 people, is nearing completion.
- The Wagga RSL Club has a membership of more than 5000 including nearly 700 women. It will induct 71 new members next week including five brothers, Colin, Terence, Ian, Wayne and Stephen Gornall.

- Licensee, Michael Grady said that the popular Wagga Cellars in Kooringal Road has moved into a new building on Lake Albert Road.
- District Superintendent of the Riverina Ambulance Service, Mr Ron Bradford said that ambulances attended 1145 incidents and travelled 122,910 kilometres in Wagga during the 1975-74 financial year. He attributed an increase in kilometres of 2342 from the previous year to an increase in accidents over the period.
- The Sister Superior of Calvary, Sister Nola Conway said that Calvary Hospital will not join the hospital side of Medibank when it comes into operation on October 1.

- Mates are selling Miranda Claret in two litre flagons for $1.49.
- Chairman of the Wagga Freedom from Hunger Campaign, Rev R Salway, said a target of $8000 had been set for the campaign this Sunday.
- Presbyterian minister, Rev John Ford will be leaving Wagga to join the Uniting Church at Swan Hill. He will conduct his final service at St Aidans this Sunday.
