- Miss Wagga, Sidony Menz and Community Princess, Petroulla Artemiou were welcomed home from their six-week European tour by Sidony’s boyfriend Simon Heffernan and Petroulla’s boyfriend Rod Skerry.

- Peter Heard, Wagga Mayor Kevin Wales, Terry Harvey and Peter Johnson are pictured at the official opening of the Wagga Livestock Marketing Centre’s new bull pens.

- Mark Enever, Chris Welsford, Jonathon Williams, David Reeves, Marie Mullins and Moya Gnezdiloff were among those celebrating K Mart Wagga’s 21st birthday at the Leagues Club.

- Jennifer Milne, Carol Ward, Jock Currie, Paul Hallam, Kellie Williams, Sheena Kujus, Jodie Fenny, Andrew Fenny, Paul Rynehart and Craig Williams were pictured attending a Wagga High School reunion for students attending the school between 1983 and 1988.

- John Hussey, Gavin and Bree Brown have taken over as licensees of Romanos Hotel.

- The Riverina Australian Football Club Limited reported a profit of $113,494 for the year ending 30th June 2000 an increase of $18,518 on the previous year.

- Sue and Steve Chapel, Peter Pizzolotto, Graham Moss and Andrew Bath were among those who attended the Ulysess Club rally at West Wyalong.

- “Breaking Through the Grass Ceiling”, which examines the contemporary position of women in Agriculture is the latest work published by Margaret Alston, director of the Centre for Rural Social Research at Charles Sturt University.

- Brylee Smith and Carrie Sutherland are pictured wearing their old school uniforms at a Year 10 Mount Austin High School reunion held on the weekend.

- Melanie McMahon was announced as Miss Wagga Showgirl with Sarah Hamilton as runner-up.

- Fosseys located at 204 Baylis Street is to become Target Country on 16th October.

- Wagga Commercial Club has announced a deficit of $8,900 at 30th June 2000, a significant improvement on the $27,000 deficit of the previous year.
- South Wagga Lions Club which raised $350,000 for the Riverina Radiotherapy Cancer Care Centre Appeal has been awarded $5000 as a winner in the National Australia Bank Community Link awards.
- Wagga City Council has appointed Erwin Richter, Deborah Braines, Pat Nolan, Rachel Eyles, Madeline Delves, June Sutherland and David Gill as community members along with Councillors Diana Simpson and Julie Hoy and Director of recreation and cultural services, Kerry Geale to its Centenary of Federation Committee.
- Founder of the St Andrew’s Monday Club, the Reverend Doctor Campbell Egan is returning to Wagga for the club’s 20th anniversary.

- Angela Rhyne of Forest Hill Public School was one of ten winners selected from 27,000 entries in the national Children’s Anti-Smoking Ad Contest.

- Supreme Court Judge, Mr Justice Nagle, is pictured with Mayor, Ald Dick Gorman and Deputy Sheriff, Cec Toy, following the official opening of Supreme Court sittings which are expected to continue for three weeks.

- N.S.W. Minister for Transport and Highways, Wal Fife resigned from State Cabinet to begin campaigning to win the Federal seat of Farrer.

- Wal Fife announced that a new flood free bridge, almost as long as the Sydney Harbour Bridge would be built at a site near Gobba with its southern approaches in Moorong Street.
- Member for Wagga, Wal Fife said that he would not relent in any way until the supply of natural gas to Wagga was assured.

- Wagga City Council is proposing to sell 130 residential blocks bounded by Vincent and Maple Roads for 80 per cent of their market value.

- Former Wagga dancing teacher, Miss Madge Wallace has been made a life member of the Wagga Eisteddfod Society.

- Peter Lobb is advertising a Golden Deal on the Holden Gemini – Torana at Wagga Motors Auto Centre.

- President of the Wagga Chamber of Commerce, Graeme Irons and well-known district grazier, Dick Eldershaw, announced that they would be nominating for Liberal Party pre-selection in the seat of Wagga joining Bruce Hedditch, Bob Osbourne, Peter Hastie, Joe Schipp and Rae Parker who have also nominated.

- Miss Wagga Show girl, Deborah Lucas won a trip for two at Pacific Village on the Gold Coast.

- Bill Blake from the Forest Hill Angus Stud is pictured with his double sashed Angus bull at the Wagga Show.
- The price of a middy of beer has risen by one cent, schooners by two cents and pints by three cents in the second price rise for a glass of beer in two months.
- The Tulloch Memorial Hostel in Coleman Street is being acquired by the Riverina College of Advanced Education for future accommodation requirements.
- Mates Wagga store is now trading as James Meagher and Company following its sale to J B Young Holding Limited.
- More than 250 people watched Wagga dancer, Paul Boyd, win the Wagga Eisteddfod open classical ballet championship by one point from Miss Lyndell Sweetman of Cessnock.
- Fourteen teams have nominated for the Miss Wagga Australian Rules Girl’s Football Knockout competition.
