Wagga Historical Society Museum opens 1967

 

As reported by the Daily Advertiser in April 1967 about 400 people attended the opening ceremony of Wagga’s Historical Museum.

The Member for Wagga, Mr W Fife conducted the opening ceremony following a colourful and true-to-life re-enactment of Bushranger Dan Morgan’s way-laying of Wagga Magistrate, Henry Baylis.

In the picture above the Member for Wagga, Mr Wal Fife (left) unveils the commemorative plaque at the opening ceremony. Pictured with him from left to right are the secretary of the Historical Society, Mr R L Palmer, the president, Mr K J Swan and the vice-president, Mr E G Cuthbertson.
